Recently I discovered on eBay some odd promo stamps on brazilian 12" albums and decided to make this guide to alert
all collectors about fake promos.
Unhappyly there are some badly intentioned brazilian sellers on eBay trying to deceive people with these fake stamps.
Please, read this guide with care, but remember: there's no real proof that they are fake or not. The gold stamps are known as the standard brazilian promo indicators in RGE presses only!
- Fake gold stamp on Polygram "Master Of Puppets" 12" album next to original stamp:
 |
STAMP DIFFERENCES:
- Polygram album;
- Poor ink quality;
- Missing circle before "ESPECIAL";
- Blurred ink;
- Different
font type;
- Minor spacing between lines.

- Fake stamp on Polygram "...And Justice For All" 12" album:
 |
This stamp is the ugliest that I ever seen!
Note that it is exactly the same stamp matrix used in Master Of Puppets album above but with a poor BLACK ink!!!
I supose that the counterfeiter got without gold ink and used black to replace it.
Note how blurred the ink is and the horrible quality of this fake stamp.
By the way, it's important to remember that there aren't any known copies of promotional AJFA albums from Brazil, and the promo stamps were only used by RGE and not by Polygram.
Young/RGE only released in Brazil the three first albums, so it's impossible to see these stamps in other later presses from Polygram!

- Fake stamp on RGE "Ride The Lightning" 12" album next to label detail:
 |
This is a new kind of fake stamps discovered in February/2008 at eBay.
As you an see, this stamp has a totally different layout of the original gold stamps on RGE presses.
STAMP SPECS:
- Different layout;
- Black ink;
- Stamp on the label (original RGE promo has the label clear).
